Let’s Forge A Government Shaped By The People

Advocating for Positive Political Change

On June 17, 2025, several local activist groups in Northeast Pennsylvania, including IPAC (Integrity Political Action Committee), NEPA for Palestine, the Northeast Pennsylvania Democratic Socialists of America chapter (DSA), Action Together NEPA, and NEPA Stands Up, formed a new coalition.

This coalition has united to advocate for immigrant rights and challenge what they describe as violations of constitutional rights by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. government. They are also seeking to expose the involvement of local governments in facilitating federal agents' raids on workplaces and residential areas.

The formation of this Immigrants Rights Coalition stems from concerns for immigrant communities, particularly amidst a perceived crackdown on immigration violations and the implementation of deportation quotas by the current presidential administration. Members of the coalition have highlighted recent raids by federal officers in areas like Exeter and Honesdale, emphasizing that these raids target workplaces rather than violent criminals.

The coalition demands that local law enforcement and municipal agencies cease their cooperation with ICE, asserting that allowing ICE into neighborhoods and public buildings does not enhance community safety. They have also raised concerns about agreements between local entities, such as the Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority's agreement with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which they believe actively facilitate what they term "illegal and unconstitutional human rights abuses."
